Born in Costa Rica but raised in Albuquerque,NM, Monica takes the side of hiking, running, rollerblading and skiing. Traveling to new lands and meeting interesting people.
Monica takes the side of Mexican food, live music and great scenery. The side of beats she can dance to, county music and cheesy love songs.
She takes the side of Daughtry, American Idol and reality TV. A long, loyal fan of the 49ers, she spends fall Sundays watching football, grilling and knitting.
She takes the side of the underdog – in sports, and in life. She has spent time volunteering with different health organizations in urban and rural Costa Rica, and she currently volunteers as a soccer coach for the Special Olympics.
She takes the side of education, family and sunscreen.
Professional Précis
Within our Consulting Services team, Monica complements our public health strategy and market research services. Her expertise in focus group management, public health communications and evaluation has proven invaluable to our clients.
Previously, Monica coordinated projects for a health communication research and multimedia company in Colorado. In this role, she managed federally funded research projects in different public health topics, including a Web-based young adult smoking cessation project, and an evidence-based physical activity program implementation.
Monica received her Masters in Public Health from the University of Northern Colorado. As part of her thesis work, she developed and taught two different types of sex education curricula to high-risk high school freshman in Denver, CO.
