Worldways Social Marketing is pleased to welcome an African delegation from the International Visitor Leadership Program.

The delegation will be meeting with Worldways consultant Karon Hatchett on March 3rd to discuss Denver’s African American Voter Information and Registration Project.

The delegation consists of representatives from five African countries, studying the U.S. political process and the role of youth in politics.

In a region where strong, burgeoning democracies are key to social change, poverty reduction, and overall development, African youth are poised to be leaders for a positive future in this area of the world. This 21-day program is designed for university student activists, young elected or appointed officials, and young political party leaders from various African countries. The program will explore the principles and practice of democratic governance in the U.S. and the role young leaders play in the political process.

Through meetings with a broad range of government agencies, politicians, academics and specialists, participants will gain a deeper understanding of U.S. political parties and the election campaign process. Participants will have discussions with young American leaders in both the public and private sectors to examine their roles and responsibilities. Site visits to local schools and universities will also be arranged to gain a first-hand look at youth political involvement.
