PROVIDENCE, RI – Worldways Social Marketing announced today that co-founder Mark Marosits has joined the Social Venture Network (SVN), on behalf of the agency. SVN is an organization that addresses the unique challenges facing entrepreneurs and investors who want to leverage business for a more just and sustainable world. SVN counts among its members the CEOs, founders and senior executives of some of the most progressive companies in the United States. Around three-fourths of SVN members are leaders of and investors in companies that are cutting-edge models of socially and environmentally responsible business. Current members of SVN include the Nature Conservancy, Human Rights Watch, Eileen Fisher Inc., Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., Rockefeller and Co., and ABC Carpet & Home.

“Social Venture Network (SVN) is a testament that businesses can be healthy and operate in socially responsible ways, and that business can be a force for solving social problems,” stated Marosits. The non-profit network promotes new models and leadership for socially and environmentally sustainable business through strategic partnerships, investments, joint ventures and leadership development. SVN members have gone on to launch new enterprises, take stands on public policy issues and improve their own ‘triple bottom line’ performance for people, the planet and profits. They have espoused progressive causes like national organic food and environmental standards, fair trade practices, living wages, and campaign finance reform. Since its founding in 1987, SVN has grown from a handful of visionary individuals into a vibrant community of 400 business owners, investors, and nonprofit leaders who are advancing the movement for social responsibility in business. www.svn.org

SVN members share a belief that today’s conventional model for doing business promotes ever-expanding economic disparity, resource extraction and consumption at the expense of the earth and future generations. Their novel approach has been to bring socially conscious entrepreneurs together in an association where they could influence and inspire other businesses to follow.
