Childhood obesity is an American epidemic. But in Delaware, Nemours Health & Prevention Services (NHPS) is working alongside Worldways Social Marketing (WSM) to turn the tide. NHPS set the bold goal and launched a campaign to “Make Delaware’s Kids the Healthiest in the Nation.” Using the groundbreaking Healthy People/Healthy Places Framework as a guide, WSM originated “The Mighty Timoneers,” to help children change behaviors around eating and physical activity.
The Mighty Timoneers focus on entertaining, educating and influencing children ages 6-11. Four lively cartoon characters – Min, Jada, Andres and Brian - promote the motivation, ability and opportunity for Delaware’s kids to live healthy lifestyles. Through exploration, challenge and adventure, The Mighty Timoneers engage children and help them experience healthy and active living.
The Mighty Timoneers episodes were created in alignment with the stages of behavior change and messaging was finalized through audience research, family focus groups and testing.
