When it comes to preventing the nationwide epidemic of childhood obesity, Kids Can’t Do It Alone. Working with Nemours Health and Prevention Services (NHPS), Worldways Social Marketing (WSM) launched the campaign to “Make Delaware’s Kids the Healthiest in the Nation,” to promote both policy and practice change that can help support healthier lifestyles.

The “Kids Can’t Do It Alone” component of the campaign recognizes that children and families are often not able to make the necessary changes to become healthier without access to healthy food, safe places to play and other opportunities to make healthier choices. With help from parents, community organizations, schools, policy makers and more, Delaware’s children have a much greater chance living healthier lives.

Using print, outdoor, television and other media, the campaign highlights the “5-2-1-Almost None” lifestyle − at least five fruits and vegetables a day, less than two hours of screen time a day, one hour or more of physical activity each day, and almost no sugar-sweetened beverages. More than 125 leaders from throughout the state, led by Governor Ruth Ann Minner, have already joined together to support the multi-year campaign.
